Mercator GmbH is a German corporation with offices in Germany and Italy.It was founded in 1983 as a company for development of shopping centers. In 1989 the companychanged its subject and concentrated on International Trade. By 1990 it was one of the major suppliersof Panasonic
telecommunication equipment for the German market. Since the international contacts continuedto grow, Mercator's president, Marc A. Herms, decided to move to the United States to reinforcebusiness contacts
and to graduate in Business Administration at the California State University. After two successful years (graduating and making business contacts), Marc Herms leaved theUnited States for personal reasons
(fiancée lived in Italy) and moved to Sardinia, a beautifulisland of Italy.

Until 1994, the company`s main field of activity was the service and commerce with telecommunication products, as well as computers and peripherals.

Further more, Mercator stepped into a new field at the beginning of 1995:
Renting and selling houses and apartments in Sardinia (Italy).

Newest project in this field is the site www.sardegna.net

Due to the enormous increase of the Internet, Mercator neglected the International trade and the Internet advanced as a the main field of activity.
Having signed partner-contracts in the USA and equipped with an own server in N.Y.,
Mercator can now offer almost all currently available services on the Internet.
Main emphasis is put to the selling and development of domain accounts.

Mercator recently signed contracts also with some Italian partners,
enabling the company to offer a "full-service" now, starting with the creation of web sites, creation of graphic elements and logos, up to the translation of the web pages in several languages.
