Singapore – Introduction of Contact Address Regime

Singapore’s Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) has introduced a new ‘Contact Address regime, abolishing the Alternative Address regime.

As the national business registry, ACRA maintains and makes publicly available information about business entities and associated individuals, including their residential addresses, to facilitate regulatory and enforcement actions.

The change to the Contact Address regime follows the passing of the ACRA Registry and Regulatory Enhancements Bill on the 2nd of July 2024.

Starting in August 2024, any documents filed with Registrar can now indicate a ‘Contact Address’ as the default public address, instead of the individual’s residential address.

A residential address will continue to be required for filing; however, it will not be made public.

By the end of 2024, the Contact Addresses will be shown in ACRA’s public records in place of a residential address.

Who does this impact?

Individual Position Holders (i.e. Directors, Chief Executive Officers, Company Secretaries) and shareholders who prefer to not have their actual residential address made public.

Individuals may still choose to use their residential address as their Contact Address.
