Mercator Global Events Round Up
This quarter, Mercator by Citco has been delighted to once again connect in-person at some of the industry’s leading conferences and share new ideas on how innovation is transforming in-house legal departments.
CLOC Global Institute 2022
In early May, Mercator made its debut at the Corporate Legal operations Consortium (CLOC) Global Institute 2022 hosted in Las Vegas. With over 2,500 individuals attending, the event is one of the largest conventions in the legal industry.
The conference was centered on the theme of digital transformation, looking at the impact of disruptive technologies and exploring how legal operations teams can harness tech to drive efficiencies and contribute to bottom-line savings.
Robert-Jan Kokshoorn and Hector Marcano from our Business Development team enjoyed a busy few days meeting and networking with legal representatives from across the industry. It was great to participate for the first time at the CLOC Conference and be part of the Legal-Tech ecosystem, along with so many companies and legal operations professionals.
In true Las Vegas style, the conference itself was high-energy and high in production value, with a particularly rousing opening session delivered by inspiring speakers from CLOC, Netflix and Dear World who explored ‘The Power of Storytelling’.
ACC Europe 2022 Annual Conference
Towards the end of May, the Mercator team – comprised of Kariem Abdellatif, Vytautas Stasionis, and Evaldas Skikas – attended the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) Europe Annual Conference in Madrid. The conference focused on promoting the interests of in-house legal counsels across the region, while demonstrating innovation and leadership for the benefit of the profession.
After the hiatus due to COVID-19, it was clear many were happy to be back attending in-person events, evidenced by the well-attended gala dinner (complete with flamenco show and live music) and the Mercator team meeting with representatives from many different industries right across Europe.
One thing that became apparent from our discussions with attendees, is that many continue to struggle with the quality of management and administrative services across their global entity portfolio. It is invaluable for us to hear these insights and challenges firsthand, so that we can better understand our clients’ needs and look to improve and tailor our offering to the wider legal community.
In addition to forging many meaningful connections at the event, it was heartening to see the conference leverage its extensive network to support a fundraising initiative for Ukraine via the conference app.
