Following the invasion of Ukraine, the [UK] Economic Crime (Transparency and Enforcement) Act 2022 was accelerated and rapidly passed. A key component of this was the new Register of Overseas Entities, which came into force on 1 August 2022. Strict compliance with the new registration scheme is required and there are serious repercussions for non-compliance. With the transitional period well underway, our panel of experts will discuss practicalities and reporting requirements on beneficial owners to ensure compliance, as well as what should come next.
Panellists:
- Paul Berwin, CEO and Head of Commercial & Digital Law, Berwins Solicitors
- Andrew Fairhurst, Head of Secretariat, Legal & General
