In Conversation with Kroll…

Following a recent visit to Mercator® by Citco’s (Mercator) office in Vilnius, we speak with Ridhima Narang, Vice President of Legal & Compliance at Kroll, a financial and risk advisory firm, to reflect on the key milestones and practical insights from our decade-long partnership.

What do you consider the most significant milestone in the Kroll-Mercator partnership?

The transition to a single point-of-contact model has been game-changing—particularly for a major client like Kroll. The trust and consistency developed over the years have been invaluable. We truly value Mercator’s software solution, Entica®, and the dedicated teams assigned to us. Their ability to navigate jurisdictions, including the most challenging ones, has been phenomenal. The patience, dedication, and mutual trust between our teams are what make the work truly meaningful.

What advice would you give on building and maintaining strong client relationships?

Understanding your client’s business is crucial. The better you grasp the pressures and timelines they face, the more effectively you can support them. Confidence comes from responsiveness—not just in providing answers, but in delivering valuable and timely solutions. We value our partnership with Mercator because we feel understood, and our needs are anticipated from the ground up.

Can you share an example of a complex project where Mercator’s expertise was particularly valuable?

The Legal Entity Rationalization (LER) project stands out. It required seamless coordination across multiple teams – legal, tax, finance, and more. Mercator’s ability to coordinate this effectively was key. We appreciated having a team that identified what needed to be done and when, even in uncertain situations. Knowing there’s strong support behind us makes a meaningful difference.

How do you ensure effective communication across stakeholders in complex projects?

Clear communication is vital. We start by identifying all relevant stakeholders and clearly defining each one’s scope of responsibility. Arranging necessary checks early is crucial. Mercator’s proactive and responsive approach helps us anticipate potential issues before they arise.

In your experience, which jurisdictions are the most straightforward, and which are the most challenging?

The Netherlands and Singapore are among the most transparent and straightforward jurisdictions. The most challenging ones are those with unpredictable regulations or fast-changing markets. However, we rely on Mercator to anticipate what’s coming and advise us accordingly. Their guidance helps us stay confident, even in uncertain environments.

What motivates you personally in your governance work?

I find joy in being deeply embedded in business. I love working closely with leadership, identifying real objectives, and translating them into action. Whether internally or externally, relationships are what make the work matter. My advice for success is to focus on one thing at a time—not everything—and never forget the importance of work-life balance.

How has Mercator’s Entica® platform added value to your operations?

Entica delivers great value by consolidating everything we need into one dashboard. It helps us see exactly what’s missing or required—whether it’s tax IDs, director IDs, or other documentation—all tailored to our needs.

Any final advice for managing cross-border projects effectively?

Preparation is key. Before a project begins, gather all relevant data, identify which regulations apply, and ensure everything is in place ahead of time. Staying ready allows for smooth execution when things accelerate unexpectedly.
